Claire Howard, piano Claire graduated from the Newcastle Conservatorium of Music, Australia with First Class Honours, receiving the University Medal in 2001. In the same year she received an Orica Opportunity Grant from Youth Music Australia, which enabled her to continue her piano studies with Natalia Ricci in Sydney. In 2004 Claire graduated with Distinction from the PGDip (Accompaniment) course at the Canberra School of Music with Susanne Powell, before undertaking the Broadwood Junior Piano Accompaniment Fellowship at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in 2005. Whilst studying with John Thwaites at the RSAMD, Claire received the Alex Menzies Memorial Fund, awarded to an outstanding accompanist, the Hester Dickson Prize for accompaniment in 2006, and the first prize as a duo in the Frank Spedding Lieder competition in 2005. In 2006 and 2007, she received scholarships to participate in Masterclasses with Teresa Berganza and Miguel Zanetti in Granada, Spain and she has represented the RSAMD at the 2005 Ruhr Klassik Festival's Lieder competition in Marl, Germany. Claire is currently studying with Malcolm Martineau at the Royal Academy of Music in London, where she was recently awarded the Accompanist Prize for the Russian Song competition. | ||||
